I've always had a habit of falling asleep to the TV. I usually find a good comedy or sitcom to get me laughing before I go to bed because it's a great stress reliever, and it just seems to help me lighten up after a long day of work. Pretty soon the noise lulls me to sleep and then I’m out.
The problem I started having was that as I’d groggily reach for the remote to turn the set off and fall back asleep, I started noticing what was on when I stirred awake. Sometimes it was the news (with usually depressing information), or a murder/cop show that involved someone dying in a particularly graphic way. Next thing I know, I’m jarred awake from a nightmare which usually involved visions of being chased or the frightening realization that I was in an accident or on the verge of being harmed in some way, possibly killed. Not a great way to wake up!
When I’d try to close my eyes and tell myself, “It’s only a dream, just relax and try to go back to sleep”, the terror of what I just experienced came flooding back to my mind, and I’d be terrified all over again. I don’t do well without sleep, and it was starting to have an effect in all areas of my life. I love my nighttime TV so giving it up just wasn’t something I wanted to do as I realized that it was the background noise that helped me wind down and fall asleep.
A friend suggested that I try one of your 24 hour systems products. He suggested the one with the soft music background as I was trying to relax, and that in combination with a voice stating positive affirmations might provide me with the background noise I was looking for. It was strange at first hearing a voice in the background, but I liked hearing positive things being said to me. “My life is good”. “My body is healthy”, etc, etc… Anyway, it seemed to work and I found myself feeling more rested when I listened to it at night.
Okay…back to the nightmare thing. On occasion, when I’d choose to watch TV instead of listen to the program and fall asleep, I'd once again be jarred out of sleep by a disturbing dream. Instead of trying to fight it off on my own, I'd use the 24 hour systems product to get my mind off of the terrifying thoughts, because as I said earlier, I’d close my eyes and the frightening thoughts would flood back. By putting on the soft music and positive statements, I had something else to focus my thoughts on instead of the nightmare thoughts. Pretty soon I was back to sleep and feeling surprisingly rested.
Everytime I have a nightmare, I put on your product, and I have no trouble going back to sleep. It seems like the nightmares hardly ever occur anymore.
